One of our trustees Annie was lucky enough to go to Peru in May 2019 and visit our kindergarten project.
The Kindergarten is in Zamacola a short bus ride from the volunteer house in Cayma, Arequipa.
Each day approx 113 children aged 2-5 are dropped off at the kindergarten while their parents go to work. The children come from families on a low income who need to work in order to keep the family together.
Some of the children arrive before breakfast and are split in 4 classes according to age. The kindergaten staff would like to build a large dining room so that the children can all eat together. In addition this would also give them space to offer literacy and computer skills classes for the parents, and a space for older siblings to do their homework in the afternoons.
